Amish Grace – Beginning

Besides the HST Sampler, I joined in a second Quilt-Along this year … This one is hosted by Béa and Cécile and we will make a pattern, Amish Grace, released in Simply Moderne magazine #3. You can read about this Quilt-Along here.
En plus du HST Sampler, je participe à un deuxième Quilt-Along cette année … Celui-ci est organisé par Béa et Cécile et nous allons réaliser un modèle, Amish Grace, paru dans le magazine Simply Moderne #3. Vous pouvez lire à propos de ce Quilt-Along ici.

The original is made with warm colours on a black bakground. I chose to work with cool colours : different tones of grey and blue grey, on a white background. It is my first time using a white background !
I added a few prints to my solid fabric choice as well and the white background is a tone on tone designed by Carolyn Friedlander.
L’original est réalisé avec des couleurs chaudes sur un fond noir. J’ai choisi de travailler avec des couleurs froides : différents tons de gris et de bleu gris, sur un fond blanc. C’est la première fois que j’utilise un fond blanc !
J’ai ajouté aussi quelques imprimés à ma sélection de tissus unis et le fond est un imprimé ton sur ton de Carolyn Friedlander.

I am working for the first time with Freezer Paper for sewing the quarter circle on the background. With the appliqué threads I am using (made in France by the brand Au Chinois) stitches are quite invisible.
Pour la première fois, je travaille avec du Freezer Paper pour appliquer les quarts de cercle sur le fond. Avec le fil que j’utilise (fil à gant de la marque Au Chinois) les points d’appliqué sont pratiquement invisible.



I hesitated a great deal before starting yet another new project … But these past few days I needed something to keep me busy and this project was just perfect : no reflection, no decision to make, just some comforting hand sewing while listening to the radio or TV series …
J’avais beaucoup hésité avant de commencer encore énième nouveau projet … Mais ces derniers jours, j’ai eu besoin de m’occuper les mains et l’esprit et ce projet a été juste parfait : pas de réflexion, pas de décision à prendre, juste coudre à la main en écoutant la radio ou des séries télévisées …
