2024 Projects – February Update

I made significant progress on my projects except one which even took a big step backwards … Let’s see in details!

J’ai bien avancé sur mes projets excepté un qui a même fait un grand pas en arrière … Voyons en détail !

#1 – Gee’s Bend Inspired Quilt

First finish of 2024! Completed except the label as I still have to find a title. To be honest, I usually worry about the labels when the deadline of an exhibit is approaching … I will share pictures and details about this project in a dedicated post in a while.

Première réalisation de 2024 ! Terminé sauf l’étiquette car je dois encore lui trouver un nom. Pour être honnête, je m’inquiète des étiquettes quand le délai d’une exposition approche … Je vous partagerai des photos et détails de ce projet dans un article dédié prochainement.

#2 – Log Cabin & Dots Project

I made good progress on the appliqué step. I only have ten circles to stich out of the forty-six circles included in my design.

J’ai bien avancé l’étape d’appliqué. Il me reste seulement dix cercles à coudre sur les quarante six cercles inclus dans mon design.

#3 – Memphis Style inspired Project

My goal is to complete this project by the end of March. The top is partly quilted at this point but there is still much to do!

Mon objectif est de terminer ce projet d’ici fin mars. Le top est partiellement quilté pour le moment mais il reste beaucoup à faire !

#4 – Bars & Dots Project

I received my fabric order and was able to make a final choice for my colour palette last week. It is so convenient to have a design wall for this step of the process!

J’ai reçu ma commande de tissu et, la semaine dernière, j’ai pu finaliser le choix de ma palette de couleurs. C’est vraiment pratique d’avoir un mur de conception pour cette étape du process !

I even made more progress than I planned as almost all the cutting step is done. I also started to assemble the background.

J’ai même mieux avancé que prévu car presque toute l’étape de coupe est faite. J’ai aussi commencé à assembler le fond.

Actually the main part of this project will be appliqué as my design includes more than a hundred circles … One hundred and sixteen to be exact!

En fait, la partie la plus importante de ce projet sera l’appliqué car mon design compte plus de cent cercles … Cent seize pour être exacte !

#5 – Handwork Project

I made a BIG decision concerning this project …
As I mentioned in my previous post, I was about to get back to it and go on with the quilting. I tried … but, again, I got stuck with the choices I made about the quilting design and density, the batting and the size of the quilt. I know I spent LOTS OF HOURS on this project from designing to the point I got now. On the other hand, it still needs a lot of time to be completed and I just could not get my motivation back!
As I still love the design, I decided to start from scratch … I am now reworking it to reduce the size a bit. Though I probably won’t be able to use the exact colour palette because I am short with some of the fabrics.
So here is the current state in Illustrator …

J’ai pris une GRANDE décision concernant ce projet …
Comme je l’avais mentionné dans mon article précédent, j’étais sur le point de m’y remettre et de continuer le quilting. J’ai essayé … mais, de nouveau, je suis restée bloquée par les choix que j’ai fait concernant le dessin du quilting et la densité, la ouatine et la taille du quilt. Je sais que j’ai passé de NOMBREUSES HEURES sur ce projet depuis le dessin jusqu’au point où j’en suis maintenant. D’un autre côté, encore beaucoup d’heures sont nécessaires pour le terminer et je n’ai pas réussi à retrouver ma motivation !
Comme j’aime toujours le design, j’ai décidé de repartir à zéro … Je le retravaille en ce moment pour réduire un peu la taille. Par contre, je ne pourrais probablement pas utiliser la palette de couleur exacte car je suis à court dans certains tissus.
Donc voici l’état actuel dans Illustrator …

New Idea

When I ordered the fabrics I needed for my Project #4, I added to my order a few colours I was running out of in my stash. When I opened the package, a colour palette caught my eye! It could be an option for a future design.

Quand j’ai commandé les tissus dont j’avais besoin pour mon projet #4, j’ai ajouté à ma commande quelques couleurs qui manquaient dans ma réserve. Quand j’ai ouvert mon paquet, une palette de couleurs m’a sauté aux yeux !. Cela pourrait être une option pour un futur design.
