Inspiration
Design based on a mini quilt, Eclaircie, made in 2020.
In the early stages of this project, the saw tooth shape and the coal and brick colours suggested to my husband industrial buildings of the 19th century. The idea resonated with me and not only inspired the name of the quilt but also the quilting, the diagonals depicting ray of light.
Shed is used in French to refer to saw tooth roofs in industrial architecture. Historically a part of the roof was made out of glass to bring day light inside the workshop.

Dès les premières étapes de ce projet, la forme en dents de scie et les couleurs charbon et brique ont évoqué, pour mon mari, les bâtiments industriels du 19ème siècle. Cette idée a résonné et m’a non seulement inspiré le titre du quilt mais aussi le matelassage, les diagonales représentant des rayons de lumières.
Shed est utilisé en français pour désigner les toits en dents de scie en architecture industrielle. Historiquement, une partie du toit était construite en verre pour apporter de la lumière dans l’atelier.
