Hand Stitching Saturday

I usually work with the basting stitches method for preparing my circles. You will find here some information. But for this project I decided to try the “foil” method a friend told me about. Here are some pictures of the process but for more details you can watch Sarah Fielke’s video on YouTube (in english).
Habituellement, je prépare mes cercles à appliquer avec la méthode du fil de fronce. Vous trouverez quelques informations ici. Mais pour ce projet, j’ai décidé d’essayer la méthode “papier d’aluminium” dont m’a parlé une amie. Voici quelques photos de la démarche mais pour plus de détails vous pouvez regarder la vidéo de Sarah Fielke sur YouTube (en anglais).

You need a piece of foil, a cardboard circle and your appliqué circle.
Vous avez besoin d’un morceau de papier d’aluminium, un cercle en carton et le cercle à appliquer.

Place the fabric on the foil and the cardboard on top.
Placer le tissu sur le papier d’aluminium et le carton par dessus.

Pull up the foil tightly around the cardboard being careful not to have creases.
Remonter le papier d’aluminium soigneusement autour du carton en faisant attention de ne pas avoir de plis.

Press with iron.
Repasser au fer pour marquer le pli.

Let it cool down and open.
Laisser refroidir et ouvrir.

Pull out the cardboard.
Retirer le carton.

Here you go !
Et voilà !

Danielle worked on a quilt for her granddaughter. The pattern is from a book of Marie Suarez and is full of hand applique and embroidery.

Nina has nearly completed the quilting on this BOM by Quilt My Design, a Danish quilt shop. A house for each month of the year.
Nina a presque terminé le quilting sur ce bloc du mois par Quilt My Design, un magasin de patchwork danois. Une maison pour chaque mois de l’année.

Martine is working on her third (!) boutis. And she will work on that quilt for a while since the finished size is approximately 102″ x 102″ (260 cm x 260 cm) …
Martine travaille en ce moment sur son troisième (!) boutis. Et va travailler encore quelques temps sur ce quilt qui mesure environ 260 cm x 260 cm …
