Exhibit in Soleure

I had been invited by patCHquilt, the Swiss Quilters Association, to show my work during the general assembly. It was held this year in Soleure on April 1st.

J’ai été invitée par patCHquilt, l’Association Suisse de Patchwork, à exposer mon travail lors de l’assemblée générale. Elle a eu lieu cette année le 1er avril à Soleure.

My exhibit

I had fifteen pieces of various sizes and from different years on display. Here are atmosphere photos to show an overview of the exhibit. If you’d like to see detailed pictures of a specific quilt, you can click its title.

That was very cool to have the opportunity to exhibit so many of my pieces together!

C’était vraiment super d’avoir l’occasion d’exposer autant de mes pièces ensemble !

Most of my quilts had been seen in various exhibits in the past. But it was the first time I had Spotlight and Cityscape on display in Switzerland.

La plupart de mes quilts avaient déjà été vus par le passé dans diverses expositions. Mais c’était la première fois que j’exposais Spotlight et Cityscape en Suisse.

First show for my Twenty-Nine mini quilt that I chose to show on a table, slightly inclined, side by side with Sarah’s paper collage which is the starting point of this project.

Première sortie pour mon mini quilt Twenty-Nine que j’avais choisi d’exposer sur une table, légérement incliné, côte à côte avec le collage papier de Sarah qui est le point de départ de ce projet.

And finally, my Orange Pop quilt dating from 2017. On the table, I also presented a dozen of blocks from my 100 Day Project.

Et finalement, mon quilt Orange Pop qui date de 2017. Sur la table, je montrais également une dizaine de blocs de mon projet 100 jours.

Red Shoes Challenge

My Girl Power quilt, pictured left, was on display with the other submissions for the Red Shoes Challenge. I will share more details in a dedicated blog post shortly.
The quilt pictured on the right was made by my friend Pasqualina @ergo_ago_pasqualina and in between the maker is Ursula Kern.
All the fourty entries were on display in Soleure, but only a selection will travel internationally and be exhibited in other events later this year. Actually the organizer, Susan Vogel who is also a certified judge for the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, hosted a workshop for members in which they could participate in the selection. For this reason, the names were purposefully not mentioned.

Mon quilt Girl Power, à gauche sur la photo, était exposé avec les autres soumissions pour le Challenge Red Shoes. J’en parlerai plus en détail prochainement dans un article de blog dédié.
Le quilt à droite a été réalisé par mon amie Pasqualina @ergo_ago_pasqualina et au milieu l’auteur est Ursula Kern.
Les quarante soumissions étaient toutes exposées à Soleure, mais seulement une sélection voyagera internationalement et sera exposée dans d’autres événements cette année. En fait, l’organisatrice, Susan Vogel qui est aussi un juge certifié pour le Festival of Quilts de Birmingham, avait organisé un atelier pour les membres dans lequel ils pouvaient participer à la sélection. Dans ce but, les noms étaient volontairement non mentionnés.

Of course as I had to be present at my own exhibit I could not attend the workshop and so I don’t know how it turned out. Anyway, I think it was an interesting idea!

Bien sûr, comme je devais être présente à ma propre expo je n’ai pas pu participer à l’atelier et donc je ne sais pas comment ça s’est passé. En tout cas, je trouve que c’était une idée intéressante !

The challenge from last year, Dreams Come True, was also on display in this beautiful room.

Le challenge de l’année dernière, Dreams Come True, était aussi exposé dans ce bel espace.

I love this fun interpretation made by Pasqualina Barazza. The challenge was based on a specific Art work and I think Pasqualina managed to stick with the theme though her quilt is very different from the original work. You can see other interpretations on patCHquilt website here.

J’aime beaucoup cette interprétation originale réalisée par Pasqualina Barazza. Le challenge était basé sur une oeuvre d’art spécifique et je trouve que Pasqualina a réussi à rester dans le thème bien que son quilt est très différent de l’oeuvre originale. General assembly

I have to say it was my first time attending the general assembly of our association …
Anyway, hat off to the new president, Ramona Conconi, and the board who have to run the association bearing in mind our four linguistic regions and all its implications!

Je dois dire que c’était la première fois que j’assistais à l’assemblée générale de notre association …
En tout cas, chapeau à la nouvelle présidente, Ramona Conconi, et au comité qui doivent faire fonctionner l’association en tenant compte de nos quatre régions linguistiques et de tout ce que cela implique !

Exciting projects were announced for next year and I’m looking forward to taking part in!
